Chris Heffner's take on the VA Tech shootings

Wednesday, 4-18-7
Ok here we go again with another senseless school shooting and for the next couple of months that's all we're going to hear about unless something else comes to take its place. I would like to thank the kid because at least we can move on from the Don Imus bullshit. First of all, this is not to make light of the victims or their families. Every body has lost someone sometime in their life and we all know it sucks to have anyone taken from you. This is to point out to the average normal person our distance from this. And to have to suffer though the media coverage of it and hear the same old shit about gun control. And we'll hear how bad security was and how bad the teacher screwed up by either not reaching this kid or by not turning him into the police for his "dark" homework papers. All of the tough talk will add up to nothing in the long run, so why not have some fun with what I think we could have done to have changed the outcome of this?
After watching the first reports about this kid and hearing his bullshit tapes, I thought, "If only this kid would have gotten laid this would not have happened. If this kid would have been on drugs this would have never happened."
Let's say prostitution was legal and accessible in this country, this kid would not have been stalking girls and acting weird. Hell, a good Ho could have taught him about how to handle himself around women without wanting to shoot them. More so than any college class I can think of. Secondly, we all know that if this kid would have smoked a joint he would have never made it out of his dorm room. He would have sat on his futon eating Cheetos and playing video games where it is OK to shoot up a room full of people.
Now let's look at the media. They're going to talk about gun control laws. I look at gun control like this, you don't need a machine gun to go hunting or to protect your home, but making them unavailable to law abiding citizens isn't going to keep them out of the bad guys' hands. It would force them underground and make more bad guys rich. Like making drugs illegal hasn't kept drugs out of people's hands. All it has done has taken tax money from us that we could use to pay for more wars overseas to spread freedom, and made it more profitable for the bad guys. Like prohibition; it's a failed idea. So, gun control = dumb idea. Laws that throw people under the jail for using weapons against humanity = good idea. Why force good people to break laws to feel safe?
Now I know you are going to say, this kid didn't care about what was going to happen after he did what he did. What people have to realize is, as long as there are lonely people in this world we're going to have this happen. I want to know in what kind of world do we have a kid going to a good college, in his senior year, and he doesn't feel that he is worth something to anyone? If I had been in his shoes I would have been feeling like I made it, and for some reason this kid didn't feel this way. Why? I don't know, and that is what's worth talking about; that we made a world where going to college doesn't give a kid a sense of accomplishment and a will to live. That he would rather destroy life then preserve it. People are going to call this kid a monster. He might be, but I think the monster is our culture where we don't ask these questions and change anything of real meaning besides making more restrictions to normal people. Is going to class going to be like boarding a plane now? Are they going to take away nail clippers out of some girl's bag so she doesn't go crazy and clip the toe nails of her fellow students?
Let me wrap this up. You're going to hear a lot of shit on the news about what we can do to stop stuff like this from happening. Let's not take away any more rights and freedoms. We give up so many already with 9-11 and do you feel any safer? It's a crazy world; bad shit is going to happen. But should we give up living so we don't die?
I also want to say that I have never been with a Ho and wouldn't be with one if they were legal. As far as drugs go, I won't lie, if they were legal I would use them but they're not so I'm going to just continue drinking like a fish 'till my liver falls out.
Here's a little conspiracy theory for you conspiracy guy's: the kid was a Republican and he shot all those kids so no one would be talking about the Supreme Court decision to put restrictions on abortions. Big blow to Roe vs. Wade and with a Bush appointed court, more is to come kids believe me on that. These last 8 years are going to do more harm to our country then any blowjob in the White House could have done in a thousand years. So for God's sake, get out there and vote you bunch of hippies!
