Quiz #07 Answers

Once again, it's the Teresa and Jeff show.  Actually, it's the Teresa show this week.  By mere minutes, Teresa got the link before Jeff but only after a little guidance on HOW to search the net for the answer.  As much time as she spends on the computer, she's still learning on how to data mine the internet.  I never gave her an answer, I only suggested she search for a string of what she already knew...

So, Teresa and Jeff (and Trisha!) get shared credit this week.  Especially because Jeff got the Venom song right BEFORE he knew the link.  One of my favorite play lists in my iPod, I often listen to all fifteen of them even though some are not in my favorite genres, just to symbolically thumb my nose at Tipper and the rest of the world that wants to blame music for everything.

The link was: The PMRC's infamous "Filthy Fifteen"

Darling Nikki - Prince
Sugar Walls - Sheena Easton
Eat Me Alive - Judas Priest
Strap On Robbie Baby - Vanity
Bastard - Motley Crue
Let Me Put My Love In To You - AC/DC
We're Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister
Dress You Up - Madonna
Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) - W.A.S.P
High n' Dry (Saturday Night) - Def Leppard
Into The Coven - Mercyful Fate
Trashed - Black Sabbath
In My House - Mary Jane Girls
Possessed - Venom
She Bop - Cyndi Lauper

I'm going to start cutting and pasting the answers because it's always Jeff and Teresa!  They are the only two that play this thing but when I talk about stopping it, I get a lot more of you telling me you like it.  C'mon guys, join in!

This week's was an easy one.  If you couldn't tell, I'm really in need of a poker game.  Jeff got all 20/20 and Teresa was the first to get the link.  They also both mentioned the little "extra" points of George Strait and The King (Elvis)

The link was: The song titles involved playing poker/cards.

The Uptown Poker Club - Jerry Reed

Queen of Hearts - Juice Newton
Deuce - KISS
Two of Hearts - Stacy Q
Poker - Electric Light Orchestra
Ace in the Hole - George Strait

Quiz #05 Answers

We're finally back.  You never know how much you are missed until you go away for a little while.

You know, I missed a great opportunity last month.  April 1st fell on a Sunday, I could have put up a music quiz that was impossible.  A mammoth run of 30 or 50 obscure instrumentals.  Something that just didn't have any link at all.  Could have been funny.  It would have been even funnier if I had done that and then one of you came up with a link anyway...

The first person to get the link was my father, Carl Morgan.  It was his first time responding to the music quiz (he's still on dial-up folks!)  I asked him what he wanted his name linked to and he wanted his church website.  He is pretty sure that's the reason that the website died these last couple of weeks but of course, you all know better than that.

The second person was Becca.  She works on the quiz with mommy and Teresa couldn't see any link but then Becca picked up on it and they e-mailed just 45 minutes later than Poppie did.  She wanted her name mentioned even if she wasn't first and since this is my site, I get to do what I want...  Hi Becca!

No one got all of the songs/artists right.  The first person with 17/18 was Jeff Morgan.  A lot of you thought it was Ike and Tina doing "Take You Higher".  Sorry, this was not one of the times I was intentionally misleading...  They just sound alike to some of you.

The link was: Each band has at least two people related to each other.

Unchained  -  Van Halen (Eddie and Alex Van Halen)
December  -  Collective Soul (Ed and Dean Roland)
A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock n' Roll  -  Donnie and Marie Osmond (Duh)
Champagne Supernova  -  Oasis (Noel and Liam Gallagher)
ABC  -  The Jackson 5 (Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael Jackson)
Predictable  -  Good Charlotte (Joel and Benji Madden)
Never Tear Us Apart  -  INXS (Andrew, Jon and Tim Farriss)
Animals  -  Nickelback (Chad, Mike (and Brandon?) Kroeger)
Creeque Alley  -  The Mamas and the Papas (John and Michelle Phillips)
The Hardest Button to Button  -  The White Stripes (Jack and Meg White)
Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm  -  Crash Test Dummies (Brad and Dan Roberts)
Let There Be Rock  -  AC/DC (Angus and Malcolm Young)
I Want To Take You Higher  -  Sly & the Family Stone (Sly, Freddie and Rose Stone)
(I Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection  -  Nelson (Matthew and Gunnar Nelson)
I'm Not Okay  -  My Chemical Romance (Gerard and Mikey Way)
Mmm Bop  -  Hanson (Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson)
God Only Knows  -  The Beach Boys (Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson & cousin Mike Love)
The Art of Shredding  -  Pantera (Vinnie and Darrell Abbott)

Quiz #03 Answers

I can finally announce two separate winners this week.  First let me tell you this; Teresa has recused herself from winning the "First" e-mail in from here on out because she has the unfair advantage of knowing exactly when I drop the quiz.  Basically, when I come to bed on Sunday nights, she looks for the quiz and gets her guess in.  She voluntarily dropped out being first but she'll still try to get the most song/artist titles.  So, this week, Zephyr was the first person to get her e-mail in with the correct link and Jeff Morgan was the only one to get every song/artist correct.  25/25 and he got track #1 before I put the hint up there.  He figured out the link, then worked backward to find metal bands with animals in their names, then made sound comparisons...  He's crazier than I am!

For anyone wondering where track #1 was mentioned before (like the hint said) it was the "Track of the Week" back on April 4th 2005.

The link was: All of the bands had animal names

Now I can already hear some of you saying that "Roaches and Butterflies are not animals, Turtles are reptiles... " and all I can say is, "Hey, a little Inter-Species rock and roll never hurt anyone!"

A Warning - Lamb of God
Big City Nights - The Scorpions
Christmas Don't Be Late - David Seville and the Chipmunks
Feel Good Inc. - The Gorrillaz

Talks To Angles - Black Crowes

Quiz #02 Answers

It goes without saying (then why are there more words following that statement?!) that I never cheat at games so I trust that no one gets suspicious when I give you this week's winner:

Teresa Morgan

The plan is to have two people listed as winners each week, but this week Teresa identified the most songs as well as got the first e-mail in identifying the common link.  She identified 13/12 of a possible 15/15.

She has been obsessed with getting as many as she could.  Absolutely rabid!  She Googled and Yahoo'd (sounds dirty) until her fingers bled.  She called her father and played it through the phone to him, she compared samples from the iTunes store all day long, she drove me NUTS!  I watched as she went tracking down the wrong name for fifteen minutes and I didn't correct her.  I just smiled and never gave her any help.  She kicked herself when I finally told her the one she got wrong, she actually had the right name at one point and changed it.  It was funny.

The link was: Trains

Alabamy Bound - Ray Charles
Boogie Woogie Choo Choo Train - The Tractors
Chattanooga Choo Choo - The Glenn Miller Orchestra
C'mon n' Ride It - Quad City DJs
Conjunction Junction - Schoolhouse Rock
Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne
Hear My Train A Comin' - Jimi Hendrix
I'm Going Home On The Morning Train - Wilma Lee & Stoney Cooper
King Of The Road - Roger Miller
Love On A Real Train - Tangerine Dream
Orange Blossom Special - Johnny Cash
Runaway Train - Soul Asylum
Take The 'A' Train - Duke Ellington
Wabash Cannonball - The Limeliters
Train Train - Blackfoot

Quiz #01 Answers

As I told someone earlier this week, the answer is always so obvious when you start with the answer and manufacture the question to fit.  I'm sorry if it was too difficult last week.  I got some great responses but no one guessed the link.  When I revealed the answer, it was pointed out to me that not every version of 'Blue Suede Shoes' starts the same way...  This was  bound to happen and I warned about it in the intro page.  There are flaws in the game but it's all for fun and to be honest, I expect you guys to point out my errors

Thom Ellis was the first of two people that e-mailed me the complete list of song/artist.
He got all of them, 13/13.

They all start with a countoff

1-2-3-4 - Gloria Estefan
Blue Suede Shoes - Elvis Presley
Come Out and Play - Richard Cheese
Give Peace a Chance - John Lennon
Go Down - AC/DC
Leper Messiah - Metallica
On The Road Again - Willie Nelson
Patience - Guns 'n Roses
Rockaway Beach - The Ramones
Sex Machine - James Brown
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Boys Are Back In Town - The Bus Boys
Waiting For The Worms - Pink Floyd
